“Faith Over Feelings” Theme: Walking by faith when emotions are loud. “Feelings are valid, but they’re not the voice of God.”
The Lord is doing great and mighty things in the lives of his people throughout the world. Don't get distracted with the noise in the world but stay focused on God!
Hello and welcome to Let's Talk About It podcast. I am your host, Apostle Rosemary of RCN Ministries, along with my wonderful husband, Apostle Herbie. Today we are starting with episode two of season five, which we are dealing with in this season of the unshaken season for season five. So there will be different topics from RCN Ministries as well as OSGA Apostolic Network. Thank you all this morning for joining us as today's topic is faith over feelings. That is correct. The topic again is faith over feelings. So on today's We're going to dive right into this. The very theme of Faith Over Feelings is walking by faith when emotions are loud. So we begin to just say on today, we thank you for joining us. And again, welcome back. We had episode one, which was planted, not plucked or panicked, excuse me, planted, not panicked, the message. And then we wanted to just reflect back on all that we spoke on last month. What do we do at this point when our feelings don't line up with our faith? So many times, men and women of God, we wrestle with what we know God has told us, what God has shown us. But sometimes we feel as though it just does not add up with our faith. So these are the times that we have to understand that we must always put faith over our feelings. We cannot measure the goodness of the Lord and all that he's doing in our lives if we're constantly wrestling with what our fleshly body says, how we feel, how our emotions are running high, because there is so much going on globally that that we have to stay focused and not become distracted in this hour, in this season. There are many things that come to rob us of our joy, of our peace, to try to hinder, to try to block, to try to delay us. But we've got to learn to step out in faith. You know, in the word of God, it tells us that... when we look at the, just the word faith, what is faith? Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen or not seen. And when we begin to look at this and we begin to think about what this scripture is saying, we began to realize that even though I don't see it yet, even though it hasn't come into manifestation yet, even though it has not, um, become tangible yet. Though I know in my faith, believing that I shall receive it or I've already received it, it just hasn't materialized yet. The enemy will begin to try to rob us of our faith so that he can cause us to doubt God. But these are the very times in our lives when we're going through some of the most traumatic moments in our lives that we have to pursue God with everything we have every ounce of our beings. We cannot relent. We cannot bow down. We cannot give over. We cannot go under. And we cannot waver in our faith, men and women of God. So when feelings are real, but not final, we must learn how to acknowledge that emotions aren't bad. They are actually indicators. They're not leaders. So then some of these very common examples comes from fear, doubt, frustration, and burnout. So then we begin to understand that we must talk about how unchecked emotions can derail our purpose. Let's stop right there. When we begin to understand that the enemy sends distractions, many times the distractions may be a spouse. It may be some emotions that we're dealing with. It can be family. It can be within the household. It can be in a job. It can be in a church or a ministry with other believing Christians. We never know where the enemy is going to strike. We never know what the enemy is going to try to toss at us. But I tell people all the time, Apostle Herbie and I, we do, that we need to realize one thing. And that is that the enemy has no new tricks. He's going to always constantly repeat different things that have been traumatic in your lives, different things that you've gone through in your lives. But these are the times that we must dig in our heels. We must have feet that are fixed to the ground. We must be rooted in the word of God. We must be grounded and rooted in the things of God. We cannot be shaken. in this season moving forward. No matter what it looks like, no matter what it feels like, no matter what we're going through, no matter that our emotions are running high, no matter that my faith has to be in a place that I'm unmovable, I'm unshakable, I'm unbreakable, and I am standing on the word of God. Because when everything else passes away, the word of the Lord tells us that the word of God shall stand forever and ever, my God. So we need to understand that these very unchecked emotions can come to derail our purpose. If you've ever noticed, Apostle Herbie, there's times I'm pretty sure that we can relate, we can talk about this, honey, where there's people that have so much potential. They have so many gifts, so many talents. They have so many abilities. They're anointed, they're appointed, all of these things, but it can be something as simple as call to leadership, but you can't get to church on time. You can't get to a meeting on time, but we can be on time for everything else. When it comes down to making money, we can be on time for that. But when it comes to the things of the kingdom, we put that on the back burner. But everything that we do must be done in a spirit of excellence. There is no ifs, ands, buts, or Why me? And you know what? Another thing is when you are called to ministry, when you are called to leadership, when you are a leader, then it's going to show in your characteristics, your attributes, and your spiritual maturity. Let me say that again, your spiritual maturity, not your immaturity, because see, immature folk get upset. Immature folk get offended. Immature folk, when I say folk, I mean people. Let me just say people because this is a global podcast. So then when we began to understand that when people get offended, it's because they don't want to accept accountability. They don't want to be reproved. They don't want to be corrected. They don't want anyone to hold them accountable as men and women of God. You know, This is not a daycare. The kingdom of God does not babysit. We do not pacify demons. We do not pass bottles. We do not pass binkies. We should be mature enough that when I'm going through something in my life, I've got to learn to run to God. I've got to run to the tower of safety. I've got to learn to run to his arms. I've got to learn how to pray. There's nothing wrong with having leaders that pray, having leaders that believe, having leaders that stand with you. But at some some point in your life, we have to learn, men and women of God, how to stand in the holy place and how to go to God for ourselves. We have to know how to get a prayer through. We have to know how to put the phone down. We have to know how to get off social media. Sometimes social media can become a distraction. And we tell people all the time that social media is not your friend. Social media is not your therapist. Social media owes you nothing. The thing to do is when we feel that we're overwhelmed, when we have emotions, when we're walking by faith, then these are the times that we turn inwardly and we look to the Lord. Apostle, you want to add something, honey? Okay. So these are the things that we're talking about here. And so we need to learn. We need to learn that, you know what, like Job said, though you slay me, yet will I trust you. And you know what? When Job said that, Job is saying that God, even though I'm going through, I'm still going to trust you. Even though I'm losing everything I have, I'm still trusting you. Even though I'm to a place where I've lost everything. I've lost all my children. I've lost my provision, my livelihood, my livestock, all of these, everything is caving in on me. And even my wife is acting crazy. Even my friends have turned against me. But then Joel began to say, I will hope in him. I will remain steadfast in him. I will still Be able to trust God no matter what. Why? Because though he slay me, yet will I trust in him, but I will maintain my own ways before him. In other words, I'm still going to trust God. I know it doesn't look good. I know it doesn't feel good. I know that many of you may be struggling and battling. I know that the social economic climate and the political climate does not look well at all. I know there's a lot of chaos. There's a lot of wickedness. There's a lot of demonic activity, especially here all over America. But then it's happening in the world. But you know what? God is doing a new thing. God is stripping butt naked in these places and even in America where we live. God is stripping the veil off, he's removing, he's exposing and people are learning that the things that have been lied about throughout the generations, the things that have been talked about, the indoctrination that's happened around the world is not what it was because I'm stripping it now. I'm pulling down the veil. I'm removing the mask and I'm showing people who is who and who these people really are. The evil went. the evil people, the divisive people, those that have been operating through the arm of the flesh. So think it not strange what we see manifest. But one thing I can tell you, it does not matter what happens all over the world, men of God, men and women of God. It does not matter what happens in America. Why? Because we are the remnant. And if anything else I know is this one thing, the remnant shall prevail.
UNKNOWN:Amen.
SPEAKER_02:The remnant shall remain victorious. The remnant shall remain unmoved. And the remnant shall go forth. God is tearing down every illegal altar of idolatry, of wickedness. God is stripping it naked. You hear what I say? And God shall get the glory out of all of this. See, when you have to listen, when you're dealing with a house and the house, is no longer fit or livable. We have to tear that house down and demolish it. The wrecking ball comes in. And then all of a sudden, you get all the way down to that foundation. And you get, know what? You have to even take the jackhammers or whatever and break up that foundation. Remove the foundation because the foundation is not built on the word of God. It's not built on, according to Ephesians 2 and 20, on the apostles and the prophet with Jesus, the chief cornerstone that's first put in place before you even pour the foundation of the apostle and the prophet. So when we begin to look at this, the Lord says, I'm tearing it all down now to the very foundation. I'm demolishing ideology and man-made religion. I'm taking everything down to the very blueprint and we are rebuilding apostolic order within the earth realm. Listen to me when I say this, the Lord has had me to scribe 95 courses that I'm going to begin doing on June 28th. It's going to be three different Saturdays of the month. And the first one is going to be a 12 month. We're going to reassess and see because it's 95. There is a beginner's level Because we're called to senior leaders, leaders and emerging leaders, leaders and senior leaders. And so when we look at this, God has us dealing with the beginners, the intermittent and the advanced level senior leaders. What God is doing, God is using us to rebuild the foundation, the doctrine of the gospel, of the word of God, the unadulterated word of God. And what is happening in this hour and in this season is that God is tearing down everything that's not Every altar that's been erected, that's not of God. And he is using us along with other men and women of God to get this done. So go to our website, RCN Ministries and check out the courses, check out the application and all of this because it needs to be in because there's paperwork to get back to us, a packet by May 31st. So we can go over it, review, see where you are and get all the information we need and get back to you with everything, okay? So we're going to move forth and talk about this. Another thing is that faith is a choice, not a feeling.
SPEAKER_00:Go ahead, Apostle. In 2 Corinthians 5, verse 7, we walk by faith, not by sight. In Hebrews 11, verse 1, and it reads, Now faith is the assurance, the tidal deed, confirmation of things hoped for divinely, granted, and the evidence of things not seen. The conviction of this, of their reality, faith comprehends as fact when cannot be experienced by the physical sense. So in other words, when your faith, you understand, you have to have faith, you understand, God is working behind the scenes, you know what I mean? If you pray over something, you know what I'm saying? And God, you have not seen it yet, but he's working on it. So you have to have confidence in what you hope for. Faith says God is still good, even when I don't feel it. Yeah. I call it a real life example or testimony to make it personal. You had to make that personal for yourself. You know what I'm saying? You had to have a personal relationship with God. And as the apostle said, since I met her, it's a self-kiss. So you had to come to And go for yourself.
SPEAKER_02:Yes. Amen. That's good, Apostle. That's good. That's good. And I like what you said, Apostle, when you're dealing with the topic, you know, we're segwaying into different points that we're making here on this morning about faith is a choice, not a feeling. You don't, faith doesn't lead to the manifestation of the glory of God upon your life when you pick and choose. We can't be saved today and backslidden this afternoon. We cannot go on our feelings when I feel like going to church, when I feel like praying, when I feel like fasting, when I feel like consecrating. No, no, no. It's a lifestyle and it's a choice that you make concerning those things Why? Through the application of your faith. Why? Because this is the reasonable service that you owe God. You owe him your worship. We all do. We owe him our intermost being. We owe him all that we have. We need to be just like the woman with the alabaster box when she broke open her worship. We owe that to him. Why? Because he gave us everything he had. Everything. So we should not be withholding anything. Withholding nothing is the way I'm going to say it. So how do we lead or how to lead your feelings with your faith? So there are three steps that we need to practice. We need to learn how to name it. What is it that God is telling you to do? What am I actually feeling? Name it, put a name on it. You know, like we tell people if they go to our websites or our app, you know, our giving platform and we say someone says, oh, we want to sow a seed into something you guys are doing global boots on the ground, the apostolic boot camp and all these different things. And we tell them, we say, well, name your seed, name it, put a name on it. What is it that you're looking for God to do? Name it, name it and put the seed in the ground. So we need to learn how to also name it. When we learn that we're going through the application part of how to lead with your feelings, lead your feelings, excuse me, with faith. So when you lead your feelings with your faith, it's coupled with one, step one, you name it. What am I actually feeling? So there is an awareness that has awakened in you spiritually and you are identifying what it is. Then we need to learn to challenge it. My God, what does God say about this situation? What is the truth of this situation? What is it that God is leading me to do in this situation? I'm challenging it and applying through application, the process of application through the word of the Lord. Then we submit it. Then we begin to say, God, Or Lord, help me to choose trust over what I feel. Help me to choose trust over what I feel, not just feel what I see, what I'm understanding, what I'm comprehending all around me. Help me to choose. Help me, first of all, God, through this submitting is the act of submission. Help me to surrender. Help me to surrender everything to you. Because you know what, God? I can't do it. I can't do it by myself. It's totally up to you, God. There is nothing I can do outside of you. Everything that I do is because of you. I tell people all the time to God be the glory and God gets all the glory. We are nothing but vessels of honor that have been broken. But one thing I can tell you about a broken vessel that when the oil flows in a broken vessel like that alabaster box, it is uncontrollable. The oil flows in different directions at different magnitudes, at different speeds, and baby, it saturates everything around it because it is no longer encompassed within that bottle, that alabaster box. It's no longer encased. It's no longer enclosed, but it's been broken open in worship.
UNKNOWN:Yes.
SPEAKER_02:my God, and it's going to hit on everything. It's going to saturate everything wherever the oil should flow. This is why God chooses to use broken people because a broken vessel is uncontrollable. The enemy does not know which way the oil is flowing. He does not know which way God is going to move you. Why? Because when you come into contact, contact, with people that have been through literally hell in the physical, you begin to understand that they have this mentality like a pit bull that once they lock onto who God says they are and their identity in God, no devil in hell can shake them. No devil in hell can move them. No devil in hell can distract them. And they have this mentality that you know what? No matter what it costs, if I have to go by myself, I'll go. Whatever it takes, God, I'm in. I'm all the way in. I'm going head first. I'm going full force. I'm going deep, calling to the deep. I'm going iron sharpening the iron. I'm going whatever it takes, God. I am going in and I'm going after you. I'm seeking you. I am pursuing you. I am in search of you. I am in love with you. And I submit all of me and surrender myself to you, to your will, to the purpose that you call me to within this earth realm in the time that you have allowed me to accomplish your will, my God. We need to learn to just understand that you're not less spiritual because you feel people of God. It means you're sensitive. It means you're alive, you're active. It means that you feel that you have a heart of flesh and not of stone. When we begin to understand is that faith is the thermostat and feelings are the thermometer. Somebody better write that down this morning. Faith is the thermostat and feelings are the thermometer. My God, gauge it well, people of God, gauge it well. My God, learn how to adjust the temperature according to the environment that God places you in. My God, that's good right there. We need to learn to practice choosing one act of faith over feelings this very week. That's some homework for some of y'all, right? There it is. For all of y'all, all of y'all. Think about it. We challenge you. Practice choosing one act of faith over feelings this week. And then we're going to come back next month and it's going to be about peace and the pressure cooker. My God. Lord, help us, Jesus. Help us, God. When we talk about faith over feelings, people of God, we have to learn to live by what God says, not just what we feel. The key scriptures from today are 2 Corinthians 5 and 7 and Hebrews 11 and 1. So then we begin to understand that feelings are valid but they are not the voice of God. I'm gonna say that one more time. Feelings are valid, people of God, but they are not the voice of God. Get out of your feelings and get back into God. Stop worrying about what people are gonna say, how people are gonna act, what people are going to do. And as long as you are following God and his direction, God is going to be pleased with you. You have to learn to get delivered from man and man's ideology and what man thinks of you. When you can get delivered from man, you can do the will of the father. Until then, You will always be on this rollercoaster ride of perpetual doubt, perpetual wrestling and tussling and fighting and kicking against the priest. That's not where God wants you. And I tell people, let me tell you something. If you find yourself going through, this is not the time to run from God. This is the time to run to God. This is the time to disconnect. Sometimes you got to disconnect from social media. Sometimes you got to disconnect from a cell phone. Sometimes you have to disconnect. You need to shut yourself in. You need to pray. You need to consecrate. You need to read your word. You need to eat your word. And let that word digest in you. You need to repent and say, God, you know what? I know I haven't been faithful. Because see, your greatest attacks will come When you step outside of the will of God, your greatest attacks will come when you're not within the will of God. Your greatest attacks will come, people of God, when you're being disobedient and you're walking contrary to what you already know, according to the word of God. The enemy will wear you out mentally, emotionally, and then that thing will come and wear you out physically if you allow him to. The enemy doesn't have control over you. He has control over what you allow him to control. So when you get to the place where you say, you know what, I'm done, I'm not going to stress about it. I'm not going to worry about it. I have prayed about it. I put it in God's head. And another thing, when you put it in God's hand, leave it there. Stop going back, picking it up. Stop going back, feeling guilty. Stop going back, uh, um, Because of pity party. Stop going back just because one moment you feel good and you're all built up in the things of God and the Lord has blessed you. And then all of a sudden, bam, here come an attack. When the attack hits, the enemy tried to get you all distracted. He's trying to get you all focused. These are the times that you press in. These are the times that you say, you've given me the mind of Christ. I choose to have the mind of Christ. Lord, gird up my loins. Father God, strengthen me in this season because I'm going through some things. Lord, I need my leaders to pray for me. Reach out to your leaders. There's nothing wrong reaching out to your leaders. Reach out to your leaders. But you know what? When you're reaching out to them at the same time, apply the word of God. Apply the blood of the Lord. And read your word. Get in the face of God. Stop allowing the enemy to distract you. Stop allowing the enemy to get you off focus and off track of the things of God. The kingdom has need of you, men and women of God. It's time to be about our father's business. It's time to get serious about our father's business. This is not the time to play church, but this is the time to stand up remnant and be the church. Now, I want to turn this part over to Apostle Herbie before we close.
SPEAKER_00:Practical steps. Number three practical steps. Name the emotion honestly. Challenge the emotion with scriptures and submit it to God in prayer. Reflect and respond. What feelings have been louder than your faith lately? What's true can you declare today, even if you don't feel it?
SPEAKER_02:My Lord, listen to that. Apostle just gave you three steps and he's telling you to name the emotions. Be honest about it, people, when you're doing it, honestly. Be honest about it. What are you feeling? What emotion is it? Is it unforgiveness? Do you feel stagnated? Do you feel overwhelmed? Do you feel unloved? Whatever it is, be honest about naming the emotions that you're feeling. You've got to challenge those very emotions that you're feeling. Go to scripture, read your scripture. There's always a word in the Bible that's going to be able to lead you to what the Lord is saying. Then you're able to understand. You go back and you look and you say, you know what? After I found the scripture, after I've read the word, now I'm going to submit this unto God. That's it. Like Apostle said, what are the feelings that you have? What's been louder in your faith lately? You've got to learn what the truth is. You've got to learn to declare it today. Even if you don't feel it, you've got to allow God to do it. This is a Q&A part of the segment. I'm going to leave you all with this. Question one will be, is it wrong to feel anxious, angry, or doubtful? No, absolutely not. Emotions are a normal part of life. The issue isn't feeling them. It's being led by them. God invites us to bring our feelings to him and let the truth lead. My God. The second question is, how do I know if I'm walking by feelings and not faith? We're going to answer that like this. Ask yourself, people of God, is my decision based on how I feel or what I believe? If your actions shift based on emotions, it's a sign that to recenter your focus. That's a good one right there, y'all. We get too emotional. As women, we're emotional beings, period, point blank. But we've got to learn. We've got to stop getting so emotional and letting our emotions lead us and allow ourselves to run to God, surrender and submit to God, and allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit and not our emotions. I want to put a plug in right here. You cannot be led by the Holy Spirit until you have been Holy Spirit filled. I'm going to leave that right there on the altar. All right. The third question is, this is four of them. What's a simple way to shift from emotion to faith? You use the three-step process that Apostle Herbie read to you earlier and the examples he gave you, what the three-step process is. First thing you do is name it. I'm feeling anxious. I'm feeling unloved. I'm feeling unwanted, whatever it is. I'm feeling like I'm at my wit's end. Name it, the first thing. Second thing, you challenge it. God says, be anxious for nothing. Remember, you're going to go to the word and you're going to find a scripture for whatever emotion that you're dealing with. Then you submit it. The third thing, you submit it in prayer. Lord, I give you this worry, whatever the worry is that you name, and repeat it often. Why? Because faith is built through practice and application. The fourth question is this. You want to finish that one, Apostle?
SPEAKER_00:Does God still honor my faith even when I am struggling emotionally? Yes. God sees your heart. Faith isn't about perfection. It's about persistence, choosing him even though tears still comes as obedience.
SPEAKER_02:Wow. You hear that? Emotional. When someone is struggling, when we are struggling, when you are struggling emotionally, we need to understand that faith does not mean and it isn't perfection. It's persistence. When you're going after God with everything you know how, even though emotionally you may be destroyed, you may be wrecked, you may be going through, you may have lost someone, you may be having struggles in your family, you may be having struggles in your marriage, you may have struggles in your friendship, whatever it is, but choosing God, even through the tears, people of God, still counts to God as your obedience. So we want to thank you on today. for joining us this morning on our podcast, Let's Talk About It podcast. And again, I am Apostle Rosemary, along with my wonderful, awesome husband, Apostle Herbie, that have come to you today. And next month, episode three of Unshaken will be Peace in the Pressure Cooker. How to hold on to God's peace when life is intense. So again, God bless you. God keep you until next month. We love you all. Have a great rest of your morning. Apostles, anything you want to say close?
SPEAKER_00:Just be blessed.
SPEAKER_02:Just be blessed. All right. We love you guys. God bless.
